Whenever a Brunel Digital student is given a brief, no two individuals produce the same vision or outcome. Each project and piece of work is unique, reflecting their point of view, background, and life experience.

introduction

Brunel Digital is the umbrella term for two courses within the department: Digital Design and Visual Effects & Motion Graphics. The students of Brunel Digital are dynamic, fluid, and unique, just like the subjects they study.

At Brunel Digital, you will never find two identical projects. Each student creates and produces products that are unique to them, reflecting their background and skills. Some may say that Brunel Digital is hard to define, but we believe that the students are the ones who define it.

During the research conducted for this project, the word 'fluidity' served as the key source of inspiration. and with this, we found that Each student's creativity takes its own shape and form, much like liquid.

adaptable design system

The fluidity and spectrum of subjects that brunel digital has to offer is something that needed to be focused on for this brand concept. going back to the basic principles of design, complimentary colours.

purple and yellow was the immediate choice for this brand. these colours represent the two ends of the brunel digital spectrum; digital design and visual effects. both juxtapose yet work together. it’s common to see many design principles advise using a maximum of three brand colours, but this doesn’t capture the breadth of subjects available to study.

this brand need to portray the students of brunel digital, and the range of backgrounds, possibilities, and outcomes they produce from this small university department. starting at point a, the beginning of university education, growing, changing, learning to get to point b, the professional world.

about avenir

For the brand's typeface, Avenir has been incorporated into this visual identity as the font for all assets, including the logo, headings, and body text. As you can see in the logo and headings, Avenir Black creates an impact both on screen and in print. It is bold and well-rounded, which can be seen as representative of the courses and students within Brunel Digital.

This font carries a beautiful hidden meaning; in French, the word 'avenir' translates to 'future,' a word that perfectly aligns with the philosophy of what Brunel Digital represents.

Digital Design is a degree course that falls under the Brunel Digital brand umbrella. As the courses within this division offer a wealth of opportunities, it is important to represent them as independent brands.

Digital Design encompasses the practice of digital creative solutions for the information age. It is a multidisciplinary course that revolutionizes the way we perceive and consume information. This includes areas such as graphic design, marketing and branding, UI/UX, and web development. Digital Design empowers our students to analyze, problem-solve, innovate, and create.

This course was initially established in 2013 and was among the first of its kind within the UK university system.

Visual Effects and Motion Graphics is an industry that currently dominates the entertainment sector. The course covers a wide range of subjects, including animation, graphic design, and 3D art. At Brunel Digital, we utilize state-of-the-art equipment and technology to create new and original entertainment experiences. Visual Effects students are provided with opportunities to master their skills using these technologies and build portfolios filled with beautifully innovative work.
